描述：Margatoxin (MgTX), originally isolated from the venom of the scorpion Centruroides margaritatus, is a peptidyl inhibitor of voltage dependent K⁺ channels in brain synaptic plasma membranes. MgTX blocks the n-type current of human T-lymphocytes (IC₅₀ = 50 pM, 20 fold more potent than charybdotoxin), has a lower dissociation rate and has no effect on Ca²⁺ activated channels. MgTX is therefore a useful tool to study the physiologic role of K⁺ channels.
